About this project
There are 100 million amputees worldwide, and about 80% cannot afford or have access to a prosthesis. To help them, we created Amputype, an amputee typeface waiting for its prosthesis.
The anatomy of typography uses the same terms as the anatomy of the human body, such as arm, leg, ear, or spine. To raise awareness, we have amputated the universal typeface Noto Sans and built prosthetics from other Google Fonts to help amputees receive the prosthetics they are waiting for.
